A picture-postcard view of the valley, from Hanalei Lookout along Highway 560 on the North Shore of Kauai, Hawaii. This region is where most of the Taro in the State of Hawaii is grown. The root portion of the plant is pounded in order to make Poi - not the greatest of tastes - be forwarned! The area around Hanalei Bay is lovely - the entire bay is ringed by beach (Hanalei means "crescent shaped). When on Kauai, be SURE to enjoy a serving or two of Shave Ice - an island delicacy - topped with all manner of tropical fruit flavorings and atop a scoop of ice cream. Jo-Jo's Clubhouse in Waimea, a true hole-in-the-wall, has about the best Shave Ice on Kauai!

Below is Upper Puohokamoa Falls and Pool, as seen from the Garden of Eden Botanical Arboretum at mile marker 10 along Highway 360 - the Road to Hana - on Maui. The garden is most famous for its role in the film "Jurassic Park." The opening scene of the popular movie features the "Keopuka Rock," an oddly-pointed sculpture which can be seen from a lovely lookout along one of the garden's paths...         -Donna and Dennis
