IMAGES OF VERMONT

NOVA SCOTIA IN AUTUMN

Welcome to the photo gallery - our original pictures of places we have visited. Please enjoy !

Welcome to Ireland, land of a " thousand shades of green. " The countryside is breathtaking, from the rocky Cliffs of Moher in County Clare to
the misty Ring of Kerry in the south, to the placid fishing village of Howth, east of Dublin, it's an enchanting destination most any time of the year .

Both east and west of Tucson, Arizona, in the Sonoran Desert, lie the two sections of Saguaro National Park - an oasis of beauty in what first appears to be a fairly barren landscape. Protected since 1933, the giant Saguaro cactus thrives in this harsh environment. These plants, with a life span of 175 to 200 years, start life from a black seed the size of a pinhead. A visit to the park and it's visitor centers will reveal that the desert is actually teeming with life. Our visit during the latter part of April produced these photos, taken from early morning to sunset in both sections of the park.. It's a fascinating place to be, though in summer, temperatures can exceed 100 degrees. Spring is best to observe the plants in full bloom ( depending on rainfall ).

Bermuda - is a lush tropical paradise about 600 miles off the coast of the Carolinas and nestled in the warm Gulf Stream. Colorful flowers are everywhere, along with friendly, helpful people and lots to see and do. The reefs are a snorkeler's and diver's paradise as well ! Our visit in May, 1999 found warm weather, cold water at Elbow Beach, and equally warm water at Tobacco Bay. We hiked two miles of the northern section of the Railway Trail and were treated to incredible vistas along the way. You can take the ferry from downtown Hamilton to Somerset Bridge - the smallest drawbridge in the world ( at 18 inches - just enough for a sailboat mast ) - and join the trail only a few feet from the ferry dock. At the end in Somerset Village, it's a short bus ride to the Royal Naval Dockyard, where you can shop, sightsee and lunch before returning by ferry or public bus. The BEST way to see this charming island is by cruiseship from either Boston or New York. You'll save a bundle and have plenty of time to see all the island has to offer !!
